No-exam life insurance

Who gets accelerated decisions, the process, and what happens if you don't qualify.

A growing number of carriers offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants within certain age and coverage limits, they determine qualification through application answers, prescription records, motor vehicle reports and other sources—no physical exam. Some approvals happen within hours. Your quotes on this site always note whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not required.

What it changes

Rapid underwriting still involves verification. Policies built on false information can be contested within the first two years. If carrier data requires clarification, they may ask for lab work; you're free to decline and walk away at that point.

Who tends to qualify

Candidates are generally under 60 seeking amounts up to the carrier's underwriting limit, with minimal health concerns and no tobacco in 12+ months. Some carriers will accept recent bloodwork from a doctor's visit instead of a new exam.

An exam usually means a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedic at your house or office in Campbell, at no charge to you. Healthy applicants sometimes improve their rate class based on exam results, so an exam isn't necessarily a drawback.
